School Project Lab is written for parents, caregivers and teens. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Using the site without an account

All guides and tools work without an account. Checklist progress, charts, citations, timers and other tool data you create without an account are stored only in your own browser (local storage). They never leave your device and we cannot see them.

My Planner accounts

Accounts are only for parents/guardians (18+) and students 13 or older. At sign-up we ask for a birth month and year only to check eligibility — we do not store it. If the age check shows someone is under 13, no account is created, nothing is saved, and sign-up is paused on that browser. Younger students use the planner inside a parent's account.

What we collect with an account

  • Account details: first name, email address, password (stored only as a secure one-way hash), language and settings.
  • Child profiles (added by a parent): a nickname and grade, plus a color. We do not ask for children's last names, photos, emails, schools or birth dates.
  • Project content you enter: project titles, dates, tasks, supplies and prices, notes, charts, citations, presentation notes, rubric checks and focus-timer minutes.

Please do not type children's full names, addresses or other personal details into notes or titles.

How we use it

Only to run My Planner: to show your projects, send account emails (email confirmation and password resets) and, if you keep them on, project reminders and a weekly summary. You can turn reminders off in Settings or with the link in any reminder email.

What we don't do

We do not sell or rent your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use your planner data for ads. The planner has no third-party analytics or tracking.

Cookies and storage

My Planner uses one essential session cookie to keep you logged in, a short-lived cookie if an age check fails, and local storage for tool conveniences. My Planner pages do not show ads.

Advertising

Our public guides and tools show ads from Google AdSense to keep the site free. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads at Google Ads Settings or opt out of third-party vendors at aboutads.info. Ads are never shown inside My Planner, the student view or account pages.

Security and retention

Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted (HTTPS), and sign-in attempts are rate-limited. Records of attempts use a scrambled (hashed) IP address and are deleted within 24 hours. Password-reset links expire after one hour. Your data stays until you delete it.

Your choices

In Settings you can edit your details, download all your data, or permanently delete your account and everything in it at any time. A parent can delete a child profile at any time.

If a child under 13 signed up

If you believe a child under 13 created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Newsletter

If you subscribe, we store your email address, language and the date you confirmed. Subscriptions are for adults 18+ (parents, guardians and teachers) and use double opt-in: nothing is sent until you confirm by email. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link. We never sell or share the list.

Visit statistics

We count page views with our own cookie-free counter. It stores only the page address, the day and the website you came from (for example, pinterest.com) as totals. It does not store IP addresses, does not use cookies and cannot identify you. Browsers with “Do Not Track” turned on are not counted.

Lab Buddy assistant

Lab Buddy’s guided questions run in your browser. If you type a free-text question and the AI mode is on, your message (plus your quiz answers such as grade band and interests) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, only to generate a reply. We do not save these conversations or link them to your account. Please do not include personal details such as full names, addresses or schools.

Affiliate links and third parties

Supply links go to Amazon.com, and video links go to YouTube. When you click them, those companies may set cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Hosting and logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and performance.
